Dr. Alex Balbir.
Director of Complex Case Coordination, Wounded Warrior Project
Dr. Alex Balbir currently serves as Director of Complex Case Coordination at Wounded Warrior Project. He is a U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps officer (Reserve) and healthcare executive with a PhD in Neurophysiology and Public Health from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Public Health, an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, and selection as a President George W. Bush Veteran Scholar. Most recently recalled to active duty as the Continuing Promise 2024, Deputy Mission Commander for U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command, delivered extensive medical care across five partner nations, and served as medical planner for the 2025 USNS Comfort mission (Continuing Promise 2025). With a deep background in brain health and operational medicine, Dr. Balbir serves as a reviewer for Military Medicine, Journal of Applied Physiology, and Physiological Reviews. He holds board and advisory roles with The Fire Watch and Concussion & CTE Foundation.
