Jim Lorraine

President and CEO, America's Warrior Partnership

Jim Lorraine is the President and CEO of America's Warrior Partnership (AWP), a national nonprofit that empowers communities to empower veterans, connecting local veteran-serving organizations with the resources, services, and partners needed to support veterans, their families, and caregivers before a crisis occurs. Under his leadership, AWP has built a nationwide network of community partners, leads Operation Deep Dive, a multi-year veteran suicide study conducted with university research partners that found rates of suicide and self-injury mortality among former service members to be substantially higher than previously reported, and in 2026 launched the national "Know a Vet? Tell a Vet!" campaign to reach America's 18 million veterans with trusted help and support.

A retired Air Force officer, Lorraine served 22 years as a flight nurse with nine combat deployments, including operations in Saudi Arabia, Central America, Somalia, Haiti, Afghanistan, and Iraq. As a staff officer he served as a Fellow to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and retired as the Deputy Command Surgeon for the United States Special Operations Command. He then became the founding Director of the USSOCOM Care Coalition, a wounded warrior advocacy organization recognized as the gold standard in supporting thousands of wounded, ill, or injured special operations forces members and their families. During his six years leading the Care Coalition, he also served as Special Assistant for Warrior and Family Support to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, where he authored the document that transformed the Chairman's "Sea of Goodwill" concept into a strategy.

Lorraine's military awards include the Bronze Star, the Secretary of Defense Outstanding Civilian Award, the USSOCOM Outstanding Public Service Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Exceptional Civilian Award. A 2015 Presidential Leadership Scholar, he has testified before both the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees on the future of veterans programs. He holds a degree in Nursing from Syracuse University and a master's degree in Computer Resources and Information Management from Webster University.
