Sara Eckhouse is Director, Food is Medicine (FIM), at the Rockefeller Foundation, where she advances the Foundation’s Farm to FIM strategy – leveraging the food is medicine market opportunity to support good food sourcing that creates benefits for patients, farmers, local communities, and the environment. Sara also helps lead the Rockefeller Foundation’s work with the VA, which includes pilot projects at VHA health care systems in Texas, Utah, Maryland, North Carolina, Minnesota, and New York.
Previously, Sara was the Co-Founder and Executive Director of FoodShot Global, an integrated, collaborative investment platform working to catalyze innovation for a healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable food system. Prior to that, Sara served as Senior Advisor to Secretary Tom Vilsack at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Sara also worked in the Obama White House in the Office of Legislative Affairs, and as a Field Organizer on the 2008 Obama Presidential Campaign. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College.
