Barbara (Barb) Carson is Managing Director of Programs and Services at Syracuse University's D'Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), where she oversees the Institute's national programs in entrepreneurship, career training, and community services. She joined the IVMF in 2022.
Carson previously served in the Senior Executive Service and spent nearly a decade in leadership roles at the U.S. Small Business Administration, including Deputy Associate Administrator for the Office of Disaster Assistance, Deputy Associate Administrator for Government Contracting and Business Development, and Associate Administrator for the Office of Veterans Business Development.
She retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve after more than 25 years as an active-duty and reserve officer, with assignments in nuclear command and control and public affairs across the United States, Japan, and Europe. She is also a military spouse. Carson holds an M.S. in Management from Lesley University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Iowa.
