Brandt McCartney
After his own brother, USMC Captain Mathew Brewer, died by suicide in February of 2021, Brandt founded his own 501©(3) organization, The 38 Challenge. The 38 Challenge, named after Captain Brewer’s football number (#38), seeks to reduce Veteran suicide by eliminating the mental health stigma associated with showing vulnerability in the warrior culture. As seen on Fox Sports and ABC News, The 38 Challenge has donates 50% of its funds to further TBI research and 50% towards providing tools to increase veteran brain health.
McCartney graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Christian University’s Neely School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems and a Consultative Selling certificate from the TCU Sales Center. Brandt seeks to change an entire culture to where vulnerability is shown as the greatest sign of strength.
