Dave Shaw
Dave Shaw is founder of Arrow, an Austin, Texas based full-service independent agency with strengths in brand strategy, public relations, digital media, and design. He has more than 25 years experience in marketing and communications that spans branding, advertising, public relations, and public affairs work with major brands including American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, AT&T, and Hyatt.
In the military community he has worked with organizations such as the National Medal of Honor Museum, Hire Heroes USA, and Merivis Foundation, where he currently serves as an advisory board member. He also helped H-E-B — with 145,000 employees, the largest private company in the state of Texas — launch Operation Appreciation, a companywide commitment to active duty service members, veterans, and their families.
Dave has been invited to appear as a communications expert on panels for the Public Relations Society of America, American Marketing Association, National Communication Association, the Annapolis Group, and SXSW. In the community, he is a past chairman of the Texas Lyceum, serves on the global communications committee for the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), and is an advisory board member for the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2014 Dave was named a Fellow of the British-American Project, and in 2011 he was selected as a Next Generation Fellow by the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law.
Prior to founding Arrow, Dave was Vice President at Tate Austin. Before that, he was at Temerlin McClain in Dallas and Public Strategies, Inc. in Austin. Dave earned his M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.S. in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a devoted husband to his wife Megan and dedicated father of three boys ages 4, 3, and 11-months. They live in Austin with their rescue dog Jolene.
