Sam Dorison.

One of the earliest adopters of generative AI tools in 2019, Samuel Dorison is a recognized leader at the intersection of artificial intelligence and human health, with direct experience as a crisis counselor. He is proud to deploy technology in some of the most sensitive environments, including multiple training tools at the US Department of Veterans Affairs and within the broader VSO community.

Dorison is the co-founder and CEO of ReflexAI, the training and quality assurance platform for high-stakes work from crisis response and emergency dispatch to behavioral health providers and healthcare systems. In 2024, Fast Company recognized ReflexAI tools as their “World Changing Idea in Data and AI.” He is also the co-chair of HomeTeam, ReflexAI’s publicly available tool to prepare veterans to support each other with mental health challenges, which has been used by veterans in all 50 states with the support of Google.org.

He previously served as Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer at The Trevor Project, where he oversaw research and clinical services staffed by 2,000 crisis counselors. Dorison has co-authored seven peer-reviewed papers on mental health, and the team’s work was recognized on TIME’s “100 Best Inventions of 2021.”

Dorison is a featured speaker on responsible innovation, including at SXSW, VA Innovation Experience (iEX), VA Immersive Summit, HLTH, ViVE, CrisisCon, Behavioral Health Tech, and CNBC’s Workforce Executive Council. He graduated with highest honors from Princeton University and holds master’s degrees from Cambridge University and University College London, both as a Marshall Scholar.

Beyond his professional work, Dorison is deeply involved in causes that support families impacted by cancer. He serves on the board of Kesem and is a long-time rider of the Pan-Mass Challenge.
